Yves St Laurent Black Opium Review!

I've been looking forward to this for a long time. The mystery of Black Opium has finally been revealed and it is worth every second of waiting for. I've been wearing it continuously for a few days now, so I thought it would be time for a proper in-depth review!

First things first, when you come to this little beauty is its box:

I'm not one to drool over a box, but this little box is so well made. The YSL logo on the front has been embossed to match the bottle, when you whip off the cellophane outer you get a huge plume of scent, the start of a journey into the unknown.

The bottle inside is gloriously dark, sparkling like tiny black stars, with a completely see through centre showing off the amber liquid inside. The only downside (and it was very hard to find a downside) is that the spray tube is very visible in the clear centre, it makes it feel a little unfinished, but it can be forgiven!
The bottle itself is very well made, it's sturdy and feels quite hefty to hold, it might actually survive a nuclear war intact and I'm not too fearful if there comes a day that I drop it off of my vanity. I like well made things and this is very well made.

The spray is very classically shaped, nothing new, nothing particularly special, but it does the perfect job of delivering the right amount of perfume per squirt, you get an even spray with no dribbley after mess!

This shows how much I love something, there's a mini section dedicated to the cap. It's strong, it's hardy and it's pretty hard to pull off the bottle. It's designed very well to fit the hip flask style and sits firmly atop. This might actually be the first cap that the cap fairies don't steal from me!

Scent
It was first described to me as heavy on the coffee, on first spray you get a sweet hit of vanilla, followed by the richness of coffee, burning into sandalwood and orange blossom. The coffee note always lingers, but never once reflects Starbucks!
Packaging
Hefty, well made, gloriously designed and sturdy. Everything you need in a perfume bottle.
Wear
This perfume lasts all day, then last all night. I spritzed it on at 9am this morning and was welcomed home at 7.30pm to a 'you smell wonderful'. If I didn't bathe tonight it would still be there tomorrow!
Cost
It's not a cheap perfume, the largest bottle retails at £81, but the length it will last, the time I'll spend smelling this wonderful mix, is well worth the cost.

I would love to know what your opinions are!
